1953 Studebaker Commander Starliner Coupe. The 53 Commander Hardtop Coupe was a ground breaking design by Robert Bourke of the Raymond Loewy Associate We are offering this over the top restored example of this historic design. Nothing was overlooked when this car was treated to a bare metal restoration of a good car to begin with. It was originally built in the Studebaker factory in California. Every surface, every bolt, every mechanical item was part of the restoration. Look at the photos and you will see that even every component under the car was detailed and painted. The engine compartment is detailed to the highest stands. The interior appears flawless. Since the restoration, the car has been driven, sorted and stored correctly. Best of all, the car drives with confidence and comfort, just as it is supposed to. The V8 engine performs well and the automatic transmission is responsive. Everything works (even the clock and radio). The tires are a correct whitewall bias ply tire. I plan to source a set of radial white wall tires that look proper, and the car would be supplied with both sets of tires. There are books with photos from the restoration, an owners manual, a repair manual, parts manuals, and advertising brochures. We know Studebakers, and we have five exceptional examples in our collection.
